My name is Carolina, single mom of a rambunctious 6-year-old boy, Sebastian.
I decided to create this page to share my experiences as a single mom and provide helpful tips for many of the things that we go thru on a daily basis. I also want this site to be a fun place where we talk about the things we like to do with the little bit of free time we have. Being a parent can be difficult and full of challenges, whether as a couple or as a single mom. Being a single mom has been one of the most remarkable experiences in my life, without a doubt. It’s a continuous learning process, where there is no perfect way of doing things and, once you believe you have mastered a challenge, something else comes along and you feel like you’re starting from scratch!…. So, let’s grab a glass of wine and relax for five minutes.
LONG STORY SHORT…
I’ve never been married. I was in a relationship with Sebastian’s dad for a long time. Unfortunately, things started to get rocky during my pregnancy, and they kept going from bad to worse until my son was a year old. It was then that I decided I needed to do something about my life, my happiness and ultimately my son’s happiness. I truly believe you can’t raise a happy child with an unhappy parent/parents.
That’s how the journey began. It was a huge learning curve to start a life alone with such a small child, and no family or friends nearby to help. I had to live far away from them due to work related reasons. Now, it has been a little over 5 years raising my son alone. It is just the two of us. I can say it has been difficult but a blessing at the same time.
I’ve gotten overwhelmed so many times, frustrated to the point of tears and exhausted from everyday duties; but I’ve learned to laugh and enjoy all the little moments with my beautiful son, Sebastian. He changed my life and, no matter how bad things are going, he always does something that puts a smile on my face and gives me the confidence and strength I need to keep going. He means the world to me and I will do anything for him and his happiness.
So if you are feeling overwhelmed or completely exhausted, feel free to come here to vent. We will all share what works for us and what doesn’t. Parenting is a 24/7 job. Loving and caring for a little person is the hardest job in the world. However, I feel it is one of the most important and rewarding jobs we can have. If we can raise a little person to be honest, thoughtful, compassionate, caring and giving, then we will have accomplished one of the greatest challenges in this world. Our children mirror us. DO NOT FORGET THAT! They see EVERYTHING that we do and draw their own conclusions. If we are great parents, then our children will grow up to be great parents and people too.
